During four Wednesdays this autumn, Svithun Husflidslag organizes a fikselaug in collaboration with Sølvberget. At Fikselauget, we help with good tips, guidance and equipment, so you can repair what is broken. The fixing guild is open to everyone, regardless of skill level. Bring garments you want to repair and we'll show you how. Most things can be fixed and often not much is needed.

Join us in making a difference! Renew your wardrobe in an environmentally friendly way and save the environment, completely free of charge.

Coffee Around the World happens every week at 14:15 i Bokafeen. A student will present his/her homecountry, or city/region or something else interesting. Afterwards we have a quiz and the cinema lottery where you can win a ticket to go to the cinema the same night with 8 other students.

Welcome to our weekly student karaoke evening with our hostess Cathrine on the glorious stage, in our lovely little sanctuary. Every Thursday at 21:00 (21:00) we invite you to an evening of dazzling entertainment and musical fun. Cathrine takes you on a fabulous journey through tones and lyrics, while you and your friends can show off your vocal talents - or maybe just sing along with all the joy.
Whether you are a seasoned singer or a beginner, this evening is a celebration of diversity in music and society. So warm up your vocal cords, dress up in your most glamorous attire and join us for an evening filled with laughter, song and wonderful moments. Our unique student karaoke show is a night you don't want to miss - so join us, Cathrine and the lively atmosphere in our little gem and make your Thursdays extra spectacular!

Student in Stavanger on 17 May? This year UiS turns 20, and celebrates by inviting all students to birthday cake and food at Folken at 1 p.m. After the cake party, everyone is welcome to join UiS in Folketoget!

Put on your best clothes, wave flags with UiS in the parade and take part in the unique and traditional celebration! In Norway, 17 May is not just a date – it is the Constitution Day, celebrated from early morning to late in the evening.

Cakes are a mandatory part of the 17 May. This year UiS celebrates its 20 anniversary and invites all students to Folken, where a big birthday cake will be served in Akvariet at 1 pm.

Did you know that as a student at UiS, you have the opportunity to select from a wide range of courses offered by the ECIU network of universities? If you're interested in discovering what ECIU and its offer stands for, UiS in cooperation with StOr warmly invites you to join us for a free pizza dinner and engaging conversation at Tappetårnet on May 21st at 5:00 PM. 

During this event, we will introduce you to the concepts of micro-modules, challenge-based learning, and short-term mobility, and how these can complement your conventional education by enhancing your knowledge and skills. This presentation will not exceed 20 minutes, ensuring it remains a mostly informal gathering. Additionally, snacks will be served, and we'll have a fun quiz with a small prize! 

Students already familiar with ECIU will share their experiences with micro-modules and challenge-based learning. This pizza evening presents a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow students interested in innovative education, exchange experiences, and for those unfamiliar with the ECIU offerings to ask any questions they may have.

Electronica Meetup // Stavanger is a meeting place for people involved in electronic music. All known and unknown forms of electronic music, new, old, obscure, danceable, improvised or arranged. Everything is welcome!

Here you can meet and get to know others who create, or have an interest in, electronic music in Stavanger. If you want to play a song or an improvisation, demonstrate your live rig, an electronic instrument, or equipment at Electronica Meetup // Stavanger - sign up here.

If you do not want to be part of the programme, but just want to be present, you do not need to sign up. The event is free and open to everyone.

Journalist and author Nabila Ramdani will speak about the chaos in France.

France is creaking at the seams. Growing socio-political inequality, constant threats from far-right movements, and a lack of social and economic mobility characterize the country. The instability in French society leads to major popular movements protesting against the authorities and making headlines worldwide. 

This is the backdrop for Nabila Ramdani's latest book, "Fixing France: How to repair a Broken Republic," where she provides both diagnosis and prescription for France. Ramdani is an author and award-winning journalist. With her French-Algerian background and upbringing in a neglected suburb of Paris, she views French society from a minority perspective. 

Associate Professor in History and head of the history section at the Department of Cultural Studies and Languages at UiS, David-Alexandre Wagner, has devoted a significant portion of his academic career to French history and society. He will join the panel. 

The conversation will be moderated by Jonas Fossli Gjersø, Pssociate professor in History at the Faculty of Arts and Education UiS. 

The event is free of charge and open for anyone interested, no sign up needed. 

Breakfast will be served.

Fixing France: How to Repair a Broken Republic

Finally, the time has come for the annual summer party at the University of Stavanger!

All students in Stavanger are warmly invited to Tappetårnet to mark the end of the spring semester and the beginning of summer☀️
The student organization StOr, along with Tappetårnet, is once again hosting a festive day filled with activities and refreshments in the square outside the student house🌴

Here's what you can expect:

Student Summer Party

Gáspár Békés from Hungary is being prosecuted by Budapest City Hall for his secular journalism and activism. For the same reason, he has been the victim of a public smear campaign supported by several newspapers and radio and TV stations and has received several death threats. He is possibly the only European to be considered a "Humanist at Risk" by Humanists International. Hungary is described as the worst country in the EU and Prime Minister Victor Orbán has taken the country in a clearly authoritarian direction over the past decade.

Meet Gáspár Békés in conversation with Even Gran, senior adviser at the Human Ethics Association (HEF).

The event is in collaboration with the Human Ethics Association, in English and is free.

Do you want to get to know other Christians at the university? Are you looking for a congregation in the area? On this day, we meet outside Studentenes hus at UiS and together we go to visit several congregations in the area. At each place we hear more about each individual congregation and what they do. There will be some food on the way and the opportunity to get to know each other better.
