Students are the reason SiS exists. Our goal is to provide you with the best services we can. Every penny we make, we reinvest in our services, to make them better.

We offer almost everything you need as a student: Food and drinks, training facilities, housing and much more. As a student, you have a strong say in what we do. Students have the majority of vote in our board of directors.

SiS housing is for bachelor and masters degree students only. PhD-students are regarded as employees of the institution, and can therefore not apply for SiS housing. We have 1.564 bedsits and apartments, for both single students and families, throughout Stavanger and Campus Ullandhaug.

Click here for more information and to apply for housing. The main deadline is April 15th. If you haven’t been assigned to an apartment, you will be put on a waiting list. This list will be deleted at 12 AM, July 22nd. Students reapplying after deletion will recieve housing in the order they have applied. The waiting list will be deleted again at midnight, August 31st. Applications received after September 1st are valid for two months.

We have a bookstore on Campus Ullandhaug, where you’ll find everything you need during your studies. We have a full overview of all curriculums, and will help you find the right books.

We also sell office supplies and fiction books. Profits from SiS bok is channeled back to the students, by way of events, helpful presentations, courses and more.

SiS bok is located in Kitty Kiellands hus on Campus Ullandhaug.

SiS kafé offers healthy food, and a variety of drinks and snacks. You can get barista coffee at Bokkafeen on Campus Ullandhaug, and kafé Optimisten serves warm dinner every day – both meat, fish and vegetarian.

SiS offers different kinds of financial support to students associated with us.

Dental support: If you need to go to the dentist while you’re a student associated with SiS, we can pay half of your expenses. Click here for more information.

Psychologist service:

We offer treatment for minor mental disorders. We also offer talks on how to strengthen your mental health, tackle professional and interpersonal challenges and various life crises. The treatment is of limited duration.

Fill out the form you want to use, place it in a closed envelope labeled SiS Health – The Psychology Service, and deliver it to the SiS Expedition in Kitty Kielland’s house on campus UiS, just across the hall from SiS bookstore. You can also send the form as a regular mail to:

The offer is free for all students who have paid semester fees to SiS. If you do not show up at your scheduled appointment, or cancel later than 24 hours before, you will be occupying time that could be spent on other students. You will therefore be charged for late cancellation or if you don’t show up.
Lack of attendance is charged with 300 NOK. Cancellation less than 24 hours before the agreed appointment is charged with 150 NOK.

Student nurse:

Our student nurse can give you advice, guidance, tests for STDs, free pregnancy tests, free prescriptions for birth control and information about getting a new GP.

The student priest Leni Mæland is avalible to anyone who needs someone to talk to, whatever the reasons may be, and whichever faith you belong to. This is a free service.

Praying rooms: There are two praying rooms (or «quiet rooms») on Campus Ullandhaug. One is located in Arne Rettedals hus (room V-212), and the other in Kjølv Egelands hus (room C-122). The rooms are always open, and everyone is welcome. There is also a short monday mass in V-212 from 14.00 – 14.15.


SiS has a kindergarden for the children of students, conviniently located near Campus Ullandhaug. The kindergarden focuses on outdoors life, and cooperates with The Norwegian Trekking Organization’s offices in Stavanger (Stavangre Turistforening).

SiS sportssenter is the biggest sports center in Rogaland county. We can offer over 100 different classes, a climbing wall, squash courts, spinning, yoga, weight training, football court and more. Visit for more information.
